Remote Sensing of Precipitation Using Reflected GNSS Signals: Response Analysis of Polarimetric Observations

چکیده

For the first time, rain effects on polarimetric observations of global navigation satellite system reflectometry (GNSS-R) are investigated. The physical feasibility tracking modifications in surface roughness by splash and salinity accumulation freshwater is theoretically discussed. An empirical analysis carried out using measurements a coastal GNSS-R station with two side-looking antennas right- left-handed circular polarizations (RHCP LHCP). Discernible drops RHCP LHCP powers observed during over calm sea. power drop becomes larger at higher elevation angles. average $\approx ~5$ dB an angle 45°. amplitude correlation sum shows dampening, responding to rate systematically. show sensitivity rainfall compared observations. retrieved standard deviation heights steady increase rate. derived decrease rains than 10 mm/h. This study confirms potential under environmental conditions ground-based station, e.g., mostly lower 30 psu, sea, being starting point for future investigations.

Detection of buried objects using reflected GNSS signals

The use of reflected Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals for sensing the Earth has been growing rapidly in recent years. This technique is founded on the basic principle of detecting GNSS signals after they have been reflected off the Earth's surface and using them to determine the properties of the reflecting surface remotely. This is the so-called GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R) tec...

Drought Analysis of Alvand Boundary River Using Remote Sensing Data

Extended abstract 1- Introduction       The study of the behavior of rivers in the arid and dry areas is one of the most important tasks in the country. Because the area has increased the effects of drought due to the sensitivity of the area and rainfall shortage, it causes changes in the flow and sediment regime, water resources, agriculture, and so on. Since plants react more precisely to t...

GNSS remote sensing

Editorial Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) remote sensing comprises GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R) and GNSS refractometry (also known as GNSS radio occultation or GNSS-RO). GNSS-R involves analyzing measurements of GNSS signals reflected from the Earth's surface, while GNSS-RO utilizes measurements of GNSS signals refracted by the atmosphere, when the slanted propagation path is close to ...

Polarimetric Passive Remote Sensing

We seek to understand and predict the evolution of the brightness temperature (four Stokes parameters) of wind driven foam-covered ocean surfaces. The correlation of polarimetric variation is studied as function of the medium state, modeled as a rough surface (ocean) overlayed by a random medium (foam). Many independent results are obtain by using a wide variety of electromagnetic techniques, ...
